Pizza Bites, Brownie Sundae Pie, and a Gooseberry Patch Review and Giveaway

It is always a pleasure to work with Gooseberry Patch to review their amazing cookbooks. When I was asked to review Garfield....Recipes with Cattitude! I couldn't wait to check it out. As soon as I got it I thumbed through it and saw so many recipes I wanted to try.

There are over 230 Garfield approved recipes to enjoy. The chapters consist of Breakfast is Served...Time to Get Up!, First Lunch, Then a Catnap, Snack Attack!, Lotsa Lasagna, Pasta, & Pizza, It's Dinner time...Now!!!, Dinner is Over...What's for Dessert?

I knew Garfield's Pizza Bites would be the first thing my daughter would love.  These were so easy to make and she loved them. We have to avoid pepperonis for her due to allergies so I omitted them. They were still just as good.  My crescent rolls were not completely sealed together like I thought so they weren't as round as they should be but in my opinion as long as they taste good...who cares! If Garfield was around, these would be gone in a flash.

Garfield's Pizza Bites

8 oz tube refrigerated crescent rolls
1/3 cup pizza sauce
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
16 slices pepperoni
1/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Unroll rolls but do not separate; press perforations to seal. Spread pizza sauce evenly over rolls, leaving a one inch border. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Roll up dough jelly roll style, starting at one short edge. Cut into sixteen slices. Place slices, cut side down, on a greased baking sheet. Top each slice with one pepperoni slice and one teaspoon mozzarella cheese. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 11 minutes, until edges are golden and cheese is melted. Serve warm. Serves 6 to 8.

The second one I tried was this Brownie Sundae Pie. What is better than a sundae but a pie! This was super yummy and good and like any sundae it needs to be topped with some vanilla ice cream, whipped topping, and a cherry.  I imagine Garfield would be sitting with a full belly after this pie.

Brownie Sundae Pie

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Garnish(optional): vanilla ice cream, maraschino cherries, whipped topping, chocolate sauce

In a large bowl, blend together sugar and butter. Add eggs, stir well. Mix in flour, cocoa, and salt, stir in vanilla and nuts. Spread in a greased and floured 9" pie plate. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes, until set. Cut into wedges. Serve warm, topped with scoops of vanilla ice cream and a cherry. Serves 6 to 8.
