Mummy Dogs (+Video)

These super cute Mummy Dogs are a kid favorite for Halloween. Super easy recipe made with only 2 ingredients. Perfect for parties or for a fun Halloween dinner.

I have to say that Halloween is probably my favorite holiday other than Christmas.  It is just something about the leaves changing, all the yellows and orange colors, the brisk fall air and pumpkins.   I enjoy all the decorations and of course all the little kids out dressed up on Halloween.  I remember as a child the joy we had when we went trick or treating.   We lived in a nice little neighborhood and we would run the hood and collect all the candy before moving onto another great neighborhood.

The funny thing was that we would get so excited and would run from house to house that at least once or twice we would fall in a ditch and loose half our stash.  I am sure the neighbors would see all this candy laid out in the ditch the next day and wonder where it came from.  Oh the memories we had growing up.

These Mummy Dogs are so easy to make with either canned bread sticks (which I have a hard time finding in my area) or crescent rolls. I mean, who doesn't love pigs in a blanket? 


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE


1 can of crescent rolls or bread sticks

1 package of hot dogs

Optional cheese slices

Optional candy eyes


How to Make Mummy Dogs

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Unroll crescent roll and pinch together to form a sheet. (you can also find crescent rolls sheets.)

 With a knife or pizza cutter, cut the crescent rolls into strips.

Wrap the crescent roll "bandages," around the hot dog stretching slightly to completely cover the hot dog. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate "bandages" so hot dog shows through for the "face."

Place mummy dogs on a large baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown.

Add a small piece of cheese onto the "face" of the mummy dog and place back in the oven for a minute to melt. Immediately remove and add candy eyes.

These Mummy Dogs are great for a fun family dinner or at your next Halloween Party. Serve along with some Witches Brew  or Autumn Harvest Punch and Baked Chili Fries. Happy Halloween!

  1. Those turned out great! I miss trick or treating as a kid myself. Oh the fun we had. My son doesn't like mustard so he does ketchup eyes. I am glad you liked them. Such an easy dinner for Halloween Night.

  6. Have you ever made these in advance? Could I wrap the dogs the night before then bake them the next day at work. I'm thinking of bringing them in for a halloween lunch/cooking contest.

    1. I haven't done that before but you could certainly give it a try. If you cook prior that would be soggy so doing it this way should work.
