As soon as August rolls around my mind shifts to back to school and fall. I big puffy heart baking and that is why there are a lot of desserts here on Served Up With Love. And fall is just a favorite time to bake up your favorites.
Making your own spice mixes are super easy to do and often times much cheaper than buying the already prepared versions at the store.
Most of the time you have everything you need right in your spice cabinet. How many times do you look at the ingredients to a recipe and automatically decide, nope not going to make that one? Most of the time for me that means it calls for one ingredient I don't have on hand or want to buy. Which is usually a specialty spice mix. Once you start making your own, you will never want to buy it again.
Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix can be used for much more than just Pumpkin Pie. You can also use it in Pumpkin Blondies, Pumpkin Pie No Bake Mini Cheesecakes, and Crock Pot Hot Apple Pie Dip.
Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
1 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
In a small bowl or mason jar whisk together the cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves. If using a mason jar, just pop the lid on it and give it a good shake. Keep stored in a mason jar or small container with a lid in a cool, dry place. Enjoy!
