Today it is all about the fluff!! Cotton Candy Fluff that is!! This stuff is so easy to make and perfect for all those summer get-togethers.
I have to admit, I first learned about this Cotton Candy Fluff from my niece at a family get-together. I had made the Creamsicle Fluff as a dessert and she was telling me how similar it was to this salad. So of course, I had to get the low down on how it was made.
It took me a little while to whip it up but it was never far from my mind. This stuff is seriously so easy. Why in the world did I wait so long to try it?
This is one of those recipes that you could make when you are short on time. You could literally make this right before you head out the door and look like a rock star at the BBQ! I guarantee everyone will be asking for the recipe.
Cotton Candy Fluff
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
2 cups drained crushed pineapple
1 can strawberry pie filling
1 can cherry pie filling
12 ounces whipped topping, thawed
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup mini marshmallows
Fold all ingredients together in a large bowl and blend
well. Chill until ready to serve.
It's all about the fluff, but not just any fluff, Banana Split Fluff! Years ago when we went to a friends house for a cookout (that is what we call a BBQ in my neck of the woods) I tried something similar to this dish and instantly fell in love. I was intrigued by how different it was and it just kept calling out to me. Fast forward quite a few years and I still had not ran across this recipe or had it anywhere else since.
Church cookbooks are some of the best cookbooks you can own. They have such a wide variety of recipes that are tried and true and are normally passed down through many generations. So anytime I get the opportunity to purchase one, I do. The Goodwill store that I like to shop at will sometimes have these cookbooks for sale so I scoop them up when I see them. They are such a treasure and I always find so many recipes to make that my family loves.
Well guess what? I finally found a similar recipe for that beloved dish I tasted so many years ago in a church cookbook. So of course, it gave me the inspiration I needed to make my own.
Fluff desserts are some of the easiest desserts to make because they take just minutes to put together. The marshmallows just make this a super fun dessert. This has a chocolate pudding base mixed with fruit cocktail and those banana slices take it over the top. Before I knew it, this was gone! Our daughter has already asked me to make it again. So trust me, you need to make this!
Banana Split Fluff
1- 3.4 oz package of instant chocolate pudding
1- 15 oz can of fruit cocktail, do not drain
1- 8 oz tub of whipped topping
2 - bananas, sliced
1 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows
Optional toppings: chopped nuts, banana slices, or maraschino cherries.
Mix the dry pudding mix with the can of fruit cocktail. Add banana slices and fold in the whipped topping. Fold in the marshmallows. Chill until ready to serve.

This Creamy Fruit Salad is always a favorite whenever I make it. It is filled with fruit cocktail, pineapples, and mandarin oranges. It takes literally minutes to throw together and it make a bunch. Perfect for birthday parties, get togethers, or just because. We love this stuff!
A few weekends ago, on what was the coldest day of the year, we decided to get out of the house and do a little stocking up on our groceries at BJ's. We like to go there to get our normal items that we use on a regular basis. Being able to buy things in bulk has really saved us time and money. We have to travel at least an hour to shop there so it is not a trip we take too often. We try to plan other things that we can do there to make the trip worthwhile.

One of the places we like to hit up is the Goodwill store. it is my favorite place to get used cookbooks, kitchenware, and household items that we can use and I can use for my food photography. I had not planned to stop on this particular day because it was so cold. A trip to BJ's and to grab a bite to eat was the only thing that was on the agenda. The entire drive I kept thinking I should stop at Goodwill. After several times of it running through my mind I spoke up and said "let's go to Goodwill." I just felt compelled to go, like it was meant for me to go. I didn't get any complaints from the crew but I still didn't understand why I needed to go.
Even while shopping I felt there was a reason I was there. My concentration was still not on shopping but on "why am I here?" We were close to the kids clothes so we wandered that way so our daughter could look at the rack of dresses. She has to do this every time we go and I still couldn't concentrate on what I was doing. So I just hung around why she browsed and kind of flipped through the rack of jackets. Still haphazardly shopping until I saw a jacket that would fit my daughter and then I had an ah-ha moment. I finally realized why I was there.

A few days before a friend of ours that works with troubled teens posted on his facebook page that this teen and his sister needed some clothes. The little girl, who is about the size of my daughter, also needed a coat because someone stole hers at school. Remember, it was the coldest day of the year. I had gone through my daughters clothes and donated some things she couldn't wear but felt horrible because it was only a few pairs of pants. God placed that child on my heart and gave me a nudge because that coat was there waiting for me to find it. I checked it over, bought it, washed it, and sent it to that sweet little girl.
Sometimes God gives us nudges to do His work. We just have to listen. I am so glad I was paying attention.

Do you ever have one of those moments when you want something and you "think" you have all the ingredients. Well I had my mind set on make this Cherries in the Snow from The Country Cook but I didn't fully read the directions when I went into the kitchen. You see, it needed a few hours to rest in the fridge and my tummy wanted something right away. So after a few minutes of feeling disappointed, I decided to throw something together with the ingredients.
I didn't have any graham crackers BUT I did have some vanilla wafers I had been holding onto for while. I have been trying to make a banana pudding for the longest time. Either the bananas would go bad before I had a chance to make it or the family would gobble them up. So I gave up on making that for now.
The family loved these and wanted more. My tummy was happy too. These literally took me just a few minutes to throw together. That is my kind of recipe.
Do you have a go to recipe for a quick family treat?
No Bake Mini Cheesecakes
1 small box of instant cheesecake pudding
1 container of whipped topping

12 vanilla wafers, crumbled
Mix the instant pudding according to package directions. Gently fold in the container of whipped topping. Crush the vanilla wafers ( I place in a freezer bag and whack it with a rolling pin) and place in the bottom of your containers. Spoon in the pudding mixture. Top with the cherry pie filling. Enjoy.

This is a revisit of a family favorite recipe. I originally shared this recipe on my blog a month after I started blogging in 2011. This is a great fruit salad to make in the winter when the fresh fruits are not in season. While on a family vacation one year, we all pitched in a made a dish. I made this recipe because I had it memorized. It literally took 5 minutes to prepare and was probably gone just as fast. My son loves this fruit salad and actually asked for this one year instead of a birthday cake. It had been a while since I made this recipe but when I did he stopped in his tracks. So if you are looking for a kid pleasing recipe, this would be it.
1 large can fruit cocktail(do not drain)
1 large package of instant vanilla pudding
1 large can pineapple chunks (drain)
2 small cans of mandarin oranges (drain)
8 oz frozen whipped topping (thawed)
Sprinkle the instant pudding over fruit cocktail, and stir until the pudding dissolves. Add pineapple chunks and oranges (make sure to drain liquid) Mix well. Fold in the whipped topping and chill before serving. Keep refrigerated.
A coworker brought this to work one day to share with me. I instantly fell in love with this and I knew I needed the recipe. She shared it with me and now I am sharing with you. What is not to love in the salad? Tastes like a cheesecake with little bits of strawberries and bananas without all the work or calories.
